CMP921

Status: in-progress

A printable pneumatic golf ball cannon.

This project began as an exploration of pneumatics with my sons and their great uncle, Chuck. Our first cannon was a traditional pneumatic cannon (see gallery below) leveraging the pressure injected by an external dewalt air compressor. We were easily clearing 300 yards with 90 pounds of pressure.

The CMP921 is based on a similar spec with the following enhancements:

  • built in dual compressors (no external pump necessary)
  • built in SBC (single board computer) for controlling pressure, measuring performance, calculating distance, etc
  • built in gyroscope to measure compass orientation and loft
  • built in speed sensors to measure velocity
  • built in pressure sensors to gauge resevoir pressure and efficiency of pressure release
  • LCD display for real-time data
  • built-in WiFi for remote control
  • built-in Bluetooth for remote control
